.... At the bottom of each article you'll see a hyperlink that says 'COMMENTS'. This is the gateway to the dialogue section of each article. If no one has yet responded to the article, this hyperlink will say '0 COMMENTS'; otherwise, it will tell how many responses have already occurred: '2 COMMENTS', etc. This is the whole purpose of a blogging ministry.
.
.... By clicking on the word 'COMMENTS', readers will be taken to a new screen that allows them to discuss the article they've just read. It lets them read previous entries as well, and add remarks of their own. This is where a dialogue is born, both with the author and with the other participants.
.... (It should be noted that this is far superior to message boarding because the subject matter will be chosen by the authors, and policed both by them and by the blogmaster. Try looking at the message boards on ABC sometimes -- goodness knows what nutty, screwball agenda someone is going to log on with! And is that something you'd like to promote under the banner of your ministry?)
.... On the new screen, the procedure for leaving a comment is self-explanatory, and new comments will appear at the bottom of the left-hand column. Readers can comment on the article itself or engage in a dialogue with some of the other comments. But it is especially valuable and meaningful when the author interacts with the readers through comments and responses of their own. In addition to everything else, it makes them appear more human and accessible.
.
.... When
readers get hold of the material and start exploring it for themselves, you'll know that you're getting through to them. You'll also know that they're taking something away with them. For the same reason, if you interact with them, try to ask them questions and let
them reach the conclusions, even if you know the answers already; or if possible, quote some of the other comments when you make your points. This will show the readers that you respect them and value their insights. It will also help them fell like true ministry partners, as well as greatly encouraging them.
